An Open Letter to our Local Businesses from the Panther President

David Bailey, President
South Fork Panthers
P.O. Box 24624
Winston-Salem, NC

Greetings Local Contact,

I want to take a moment to thank you for the service you and your business provide our community. Your business is a valued asset to the community, and we enjoy the fact that you are a leading provider of services in the community. I also wanted to take a moment to share some information with you in regards to our organization; about some of the exciting things we’re doing within the community, and about how we can help you grow your business through our organization.

The South Fork Panthers organization is a not-for-profit, all volunteer youth football, cheer, and dance program that serves boys and girls between 5-15 years of age. Our organization operates from and is located right behind South Fork Elementary school on Country Club road. We’ve been serving local youth and their families from the community for the past 12 years. We are part of a 14 team regional league, affiliated with the more nationally known Pop Warner Little Scholars organization. Pop Warner is the only national youth sports organization in America that not only reinforces academic excellence but actually requires its participants to perform adequately in the classroom before permitting them to play. Proof of satisfactory academic progress is required prior to admission to the program. To further reinforce academic importance, each year the most academically accomplished Pop Warner youth compete for Academic All-American status with the potential to be recognized at the annual National Pop Warner Little Scholars Banquet held in Orlando, FL.

We take pride in the fact that organizations such as Pop Warner Little Scholars and the South Fork Panthers have become the primary providers of physical education for today’s elementary and middle school youth. Last year we had a total of 279 kids in the program. This year we’re expecting that head count to be between 300-350 kids. Our season begins August 1st and last for ~12 weeks. We play 8 games each year against other local teams, and have the opportunity to compete each year on the regional and national levels. Last year our organization was very successful in that we had one football team, one dance team, and three cheering squads compete at the regional level in Huntsville, AL. Two of the cheering squads and our dance team advanced and had the opportunity to compete at the national level in Orlando, FL.

Each year these youth assemble to compete against other youth of the same age in athletics and academics. We realize that the experiences, skills, and knowledge obtained through programs like ours are very profound and have permanent impact throughout their high school, college, professional and personal lives. Ryan Taylor is an excellent example of this direct impact. Please read about his accomplishments in the attached document. The excitement and joy these kids obtain by participating and winning in youth athletics is truly beyond comparison.

Your business can take a part in helping kids from our community experience that excitement and joy, by partnering with our organization and becoming one of our business sponsors and advertising with us. For a $500 donation we will purchase and display a 3x6 advertising banner with your business logo or design at our playing facility. Additionally, we will place your name on our Local Business Sponsor Board, also located at the playing facility. I’m sure you will agree that this is a small contribution to such a worthy cause. Let me also add that our kids compete each week in front of a minimum audience of about 2500 family members and friends.

As stated earlier, we are a non-profit, 100% volunteer program. Registration fees cover only 40% of our operating cost. We try very hard to keep our registration fees as low as possible so that kids from all walks of life can participate. We rely on the generosity of our community through donations from individuals, local businesses, and fundraisers to cover the other 60% of costs. We are recognized by the state and federal government as a 501(c) 3 tax exempt organization. The South Fork Panthers organization maintains a great standing in our community and by sponsoring us, you will be viewed as a business who is an enthusiastic supporter of our local community.

Our season starts in August and I invite you to stop by and catch a game. You can also visit us on the web at: www.southforkpanthers.com. Also when you’re ready, we will be more than happy to come by your place of business to discuss the design you want placed on your advertising banner. If this program doesn’t serve your needs but you still want to help, please contact us for other opportunities. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
